2. What data we collect

a) Account data

When you create an account on Qurious we collect: your email address, your name, and (if you sign in with Google or Apple) the profile information that platform shares with us. We never receive your password from any third-party platform.

b) Usage data

To improve the Service we collect basic device and usage information (device type, OS, browser version, pages visited, anonymized IP address). Legal basis: legitimate interest under Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

c) Content you send us

When you send Qurious a message, link, or shared post via Instagram DM, web paste, or our mobile app, we save the content so you can recall it later. We apply curation features (such as automatic categorization) to help you organize your saved items. You can disable curation in Settings.

Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (performance of contract).

3. Service providers we use

To provide the Service we use specialized service providers based in the USA. Data transfers to the USA are governed by EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 para. 2 lit. c GDPR) and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

  • Supabase (USA / EU): cloud database, authentication, storage
  • Google (Vertex AI) (USA / EU): AI processing for curation features (where applicable)
  • Vercel (USA): web hosting and delivery

For more details on any provider, contact hi@qurious.fyi.

4. Cookies

Qurious uses functional cookies for sign-in and session management. Analytics cookies are only set with your explicit consent.

5. Your rights under GDPR

  • Right to access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR)

Contact hi@qurious.fyi to exercise any of these rights.

5a. Delete your account

You can delete your Qurious account at any time directly in the app, under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account (web) or Profile → Account → Delete Account (iOS). This satisfies GDPR Art. 17, Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.1(v), and the Meta Developer Program data deletion requirement.

How deletion works

  1. You confirm by entering your email address in the app.
  2. Your account is immediately deactivated. All active sessions are invalidated, third-party login tokens (e.g. Instagram) are deleted, and your profile is marked deleted.
  3. After a 14-day grace period, your data is permanently deleted. During the grace period you can cancel the deletion by signing in again and clicking “Restore account.”
  4. After the grace period, the following are permanently deleted: profile, discovered entities, collections, search history, reminders, Instagram link, and all Instagram DMs and metadata in our enrichment pipeline.
  5. Your record in the central auth system (Supabase) is also deleted; the search index entry (Typesense) is removed.

What is NOT deleted

  • Anonymized audit logs: Identity-audit-log entries (which account links/deletions happened when) are retained for up to 90 days for abuse detection and compliance, then anonymized or deleted.
  • Shared canonical entity data: The cross-user knowledge base (e.g. info about specific restaurants, films, music) is not deleted because it has no remaining personal connection to you once your entities are removed.

Sign in with Apple

If you signed in with Apple, you also need to revoke the link in iOS Settings under Apple ID → Sign in with Apple → Qurious → Stop Using to fully disconnect.

Meta / Instagram Data Deletion

If you request data deletion via Meta (Facebook → Settings → Apps and Websites → Qurious → Remove Data), Meta forwards the request to https://www.askqurious.com/api/meta/data-deletion. You’ll receive a confirmation code so you can track the deletion status at /data-deletion/<code>.
